Heather MacArthur's passion and curiosity for photography began during childhood as she captured friends, family, landscapes and details of life with various cameras from a Polaroid One Step to a Kodak Disc. Her photography career actualized in Atlanta, GA after completing an extensive Commercial Photography program at The Portfolio Center. "My interest in the arts was always apparent as a child and although I took many art classes throughout my life, I never realized I could have a career as an artist until I found The Portfolio Center."
Soon after graduating, Heather took her young career to New York City to assist many well-known and successful photographers, as well as manage a busy still life studio. "The amount of knowledge I gained from working with these talented people is priceless. I am so thankful to have had those mentors in my life." Working on a variety of still life sets introduced Heather to prop styling. "Providing the right props, textures and colors for an image is so key to its success. For me, this is the most fun part of the photography process." Heather provides a unique talent to clients as she can provide both styling and photography services.
A highly detail-oriented mind and an uncommon capability to capture the beauty in ordinary objects gives Heather an advantage for still life and food photography. Her natural and relaxed approach produce clean, simple, beautiful images that she is sought out for by her clients again and again. "I have the patience to re-work an image until perfection. When I am happy with the outcome, I know it's a great shot."
